Legal requirements for the electronic DeCA

A digital DeCA is not just any PDF. These are the technical and content requirements we take into account when generating each document.

The file

Native digital PDF

The document is generated directly as a PDF, never as a scan or a photo of paper.

5 MB maximum size

Our PDFs use a fraction of that limit so they open quickly even with poor coverage.

Creation and modification metadata

Each version records when it was created and, when modified, when and why.

Access for inspectors

Embedded QR code

The QR is printed on the PDF itself and points to a secure (HTTPS) URL.

Direct download, no passwords

Whoever scans the QR gets the current PDF instantly, without signing up or entering any key.

Link disabled 7 calendar days later

When the service ends or is cancelled, the public link stays active for seven calendar days and is then disabled.

Retention

Kept for at least one year

We keep every version of each DeCA for at least one year after the service ends, downloadable from your dashboard.

Mandatory content

  • Name, tax ID and address of the contractual shipper
  • Name and tax ID of the actual carrier
  • Place of origin and destination of the goods
  • Nature and weight of the goods

We also include the plate, transport date, any special permit, remarks and the modification history.

This summary is for guidance and is not legal advice. Check the regulations in force for the requirements and deadlines that apply to you.
